Almond Milk for the Win!

Almond milk is the most popular plant milk in the US. It is a great alternative to regular milk especially if you are lactose intolerant or vegan. Almond milk is also naturally rich in Vitamin E. It has fewer calories than regular milk and makes it easier for people trying to lose weight and watch their blood sugar levels. Some brands might vary, but one cup of unsweetened almond milk is only 30 calories!

What I love most about almond milk is that it is dairy-free. Dairy, such as milk, can bloat you and make you feel uncomfortable whereas almond milk is just as creamy, tastes good and is healthier for you. A big question that pops up often is without drinking regular milk am I getting enough calcium? The answer is yes; almond milk is enriched with Calcium and Vitamin D, which leads to decrease risk of osteoporosis and can prevent Vitamin D deficiency. Almond milk is also made out almonds leading it to be a healthy fat. Healthy fats help lower the risk of high cholesterol and can help lower the risk of heart disease.

You can incorporate almond milk into your diet in numerous ways. For example, add it to your cereal, oatmeal or coffee for starters. Make a dairy-free pudding or ice cream using almond milk. Make soups using almond milk or even baked goods.

My favorite way to incorporate almond milk into my diet is making a smoothie with it for breakfast or for snack.
